Position Description
The Administrative Services Officer 4 is a full-time non civil service position and will serve as an assistant at the Davidson County Magistrate Court located within the Downtown Detention Center assisting Judicial Magistrates with a variety of duties. Magistrate Court is commonly referred to as Night Court although it actually operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Davidson County Judicial Magistrates process arrestees and set bail/bond pursuant to Tennessee state law. The Magistrate Assistant position will assist the Magistrate on duty by providing essential information, gathering needed information, facilitating compliance with statutory bond conditions, and assisting persons seeking an order of protection. The Magistrate Assistant will work 40 hours a week in 8-hour shifts being assigned to either the morning shift or the afternoon shift or the midnight shift. The intent of General Sessions Court is to hire six (6) Magistrate Assistants in order to staff Night Court 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is further the intention that one of the Magistrate Assistants will serve in a supervisory role as it relates to the other assistants and will handle scheduling issues and will serve as the main contact for the Presiding Night Court Magistrate and the General Sessions Court judges.
Typical Duties
Magistrate Assistant will run background checks on all arrestees in the FBI/TBI National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database and report findings to the Judicial Magistrate. The NCIC database is a secure database requiring annual audits and certification.
Magistrate assistant will maintain records in accordance with TBI and FBI procedure.
Magistrate Assistant will meet with arrestees, via video, to determine statutory mandated information on arrestees and provide the information to the Magistrate.
Magistrate Assistant will coordinate with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) providers relating to arrestees who are released on GPS monitoring.
In cases involving certain domestic violence offenses, Magistrate Assistant will contact alleged victims to ensure compliance with Tennessee law regarding GPS monitoring.
Magistrate Assistant will assist persons seeking an order of protection, including non-English speaking petitioners.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree plus considerable (3 years) professional experience in an administrative, financial, technical, or related field.
Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education. (1:1 Ratio)

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
