The Teledyne FLIR manufacturing facility in Freeport, PA makes optical components that go into thermal imaging cameras, gimbals, scopes, and other military driven products. We are looking to hire an Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining the daily operations of the facility. Areas of responsibility include Vacuum Deposition Chambers, Optical Fabrication equipment, and support equipment / systems. Activities include performing preventative maintenance for the areas and high priority must be used to address any line down situations. Troubleshooting and repairs need to be performed in a timely fashion to minimize machine down time, this includes communication with equipment OEM to support repairs. When required, the Technician will be responsible for coordinating OEM repair technical support on site. Technician must have a thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and be capable of safely working with voltages of 120 V single phase, 208/240 V single and 3 phase, and 480 V 3 phase. The Technician will provide support in all production areas and the facility as required.
Job Duties:
Perform preventative maintenance programs and ensure Preventative Maintenance (PM) are completed on time for all areas; make periodic inspection of equipment to determine repair work as necessary.
Perform and/or oversee the repair or maintenance of Equipment; focus on minimizing impact to production - priority will be given to these activities.
Ordering and keeping inventory of all necessary parts required for Preventive Maintenance program as well as for some other parts for emergency repair.
Properly maintain and document all equipment logs and files.
Communicate with Production Manager to resolve maintenance vs. production issues in a timely manner; support any meetings with management and team as required.
Train and communicate with Technicians as required.
Maintain areas in a presentable condition; ensure safety compliances for OSHA are attained to ensure all facilities are safe for employees, suppliers, and customers.
Assist management in initiating and supporting cost savings and cost avoidance projects; perform additional tasks as required by management.
Providing maintenance support to all other areas within the site.
Requirements:
High School/GED required
Associate degree preferred
Capable of working on electrical systems (120 V single phase, 208/240 V single and 3 phase, and 480 V 3 phase.) while conforming to established lock-out/tag-out procedures.
Capable of taking energized systems offline and working around energized systems.
Capable of completing preventative maintenance of equipment.
Capable of working on mechanical systems including Mechanical pumps, Diffusion pumps, Cryogenic pumps, Electron Beam Guns for Evaporation of coating materials.
Capable of working with and around chemicals including but not limited to inorganic acids Hydrofluoric, Hydrochloric, Nitric and Sulfuric as well as organic materials acetone and isopropyl alcohol.
Knowledge of vacuum systems and components preferred.
Capable of working on Fabrication equipment including grinders, polishers, centering, and Diamond Turning machines.
Ability to make sound/safe decisions involving the use of chemicals and energized systems required.
Ability to independently evaluate complex problems and identify solutions while working independently with minimal supervision required.
Capable of working independently in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Capable of identifying and implementing process improvements.
Capable of successfully communicating and working with other team members.
