General Statement
Culinary Services (http://www.montana.edu/ufs/) (CS), a division of Auxiliary Services, provides meals for over 12,000 customers a day becoming an integral part of campus life and the overall college experience. CS proudly provides Montana State University students with not only a repertoire of various cuisines, cooking styles, and flavors, but a comfortable atmosphere to meet friends, study, and simply relax. The division is comprised of 2 residential dining halls, 9 retail operations, Brick Breeden Fieldhouse and Bobcat Stadium Concessions, Fork in the Road food truck, MSU Catering, Indulge In-House Bakery & Salads, and the Farm to Campus Program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Warehouse Manger is a member of the dining hall management team charged with maintaining a daily warehouse inventory of $100K-$150K. Assigned to one of the two dining hall warehouses, the Warehouse Manager actively works to oversee the day to day activities inclusive of supervising staff; ordering, receiving, and delivery of goods; maintaining the proper inventory of food stuffs, dry goods and custodial supplies; and working on the production floor as needed during busy times or absences.
Ensures the warehouse is operating smoothly, efficiently and on-time.
Directs warehouse staff in receiving and stocking daily deliveries of large quantities of food, food service related items, and custodial supplies
Directs staff in storing and rotating food products according to expiration dates and sanitation rules.
Maintains facilities and equipment while communicating repair needs to upper management.
Inspects product and works with vendors on any incomplete orders, damage claims, or rejected items.
Determines logical storage locations for food and non-food items.
Ensures compliance with FDA codes and as directed by MSU's Registered Sanitarian for sanitation guidelines and food handling and storage.
Collaborates with the warehouse manager team to ensure deliveries on or off campus are accurate and on-time.
Supervises 1-2 full-time staff and 4-6 part-time student staff (hiring, training, addressing disciplinary issues, evaluating etc)
Responsible to maintain the warehouse inventory inclusive of: ordering/receiving; regular inventory counts; communication and troubleshooting with vendors on any issues; partnering with the chef team to determine weekly supply orders; and performing a variety of related administrative tasks utilizing the food systems management software and other applications.
Works in other areas of the food service as needed.
Actively contributes to the team by performing other duties as needed in support of the department's mission.
Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Progressively responsible warehouse management experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience working in a large inventory system.
Progressively responsible experience supervising and training staff.
Proficient experience using computers and various software packages.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Advanced degree or certificate in the hospitality, culinary arts or related field(s)
Experience with computerized inventory and/or ordering systems.
Food service experience inclusive of working knowledge of safe food handling procedures and sanitation guidelines.

Will work evenings, weekends, long hours, consecutive days during busy periods, and occasional holidays as the school and event schedule demands.
Occasional travel for work.
May occasionally work outside and in inclement weather assisting with special events.
Possess an 8 hour management sanitation certification or have the ability to become certified.
Must have the ability to understand and communicate in English with adequate proficiency to follow directions from supervisor, read and understand safety guidelines and directions to prevent accidents or injuries from occurring, and communicate effectively with customers (staff, visitors, students) by listening and speaking clearly to them.

Bending, kneeling, stretching and general moving about while stocking products
Gripping handles on small kitchen utensils and other equipment
Performing repetitive motions related to job duties
Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals
Work for long periods of time at a computer
