Must be eligible to practice law in Florida and must be a member in good standing with the Florida Bar.
2 years of professional experience as an attorney.
P refere nc e s :
Experience as a judicial law clerk.
Experience in election law

Se rv e as t he pr ima ry a tt o rn e y for t he Office of Election Crimes and Security (OECS); provide litigation support as needed; draft and review contracts and/or legal correspondence for OECS; provide legal guidance to the Director of OECS on a variety of issues that arise; provide legal guidance Florida Election Code (ch. 97 -106, Fla. Stat.); provide legal guidance on matters related to public records requests and/or discovery requests where OECS is involved; and in conduct all activities in accordance with state and federal law and Department/OECS guidelines.
R e v ie w in t e r nal in v es t i g a t ions into allegations of elections law violations and irregularities. Review OECS's case files, each of which includes a compilation of documents related to each case and a recommendation from OECS staff. Determine whether further information is needed or if additional documentation should be included in the case file. Make additional criminal allegations or denote other irregularities of the case as necessary and remove allegations where the case file does not include a prima facie showing of a crime. Draft and issue referral letters to state and federal law enforcement, close out letters, fine letters, or additional correspondence necessary for each case. Close legally insufficient cases where there is no prima facie showing of a crime OECS has jurisdiction to investigate. Con f e r w ith law enforcement, agency partners, and specialists to obtain information or clarify facts relevant to each case. Confirm monthly the status of e v e ry r e f e rr ed case with the appropriate law enforcement agency.
Ensure tracking of all calendar deadlines and court dates for any voting or voter registration case in criminal, civil, or administrative litigation.
Successfully complete training in intelligence analysis, signature match verification, and any other training deemed appropriate and applicable to performing the duties of the position
Complete any special assignments that fall outside of the scope of routine analytic duties, including project management and operational support. Provide suggestions and recommendations to management process improvement.
