Hennepin Technical College seeks an Unlimited, full-time, Dental Hygiene instructor dedicated to excellence in career and technical education who desires to become part of an environment that values trust, integrity, pride, passion, respect, collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and diversity. The majority of this role will serve as the Program Director for the Dental Hygiene program and teach courses in Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting.
Examples of Duties:
Serve as the Program Director for the Dental Hygiene program as defined in CODA standards for the program.
Lead program accreditation activities
Work closely with faculty, the Academic Dean, and college leadership in the development of the Dental Hygiene program.
Oversee day-to-day operation, supervision, evaluation, and revision of the Dental Hygiene program.
Teach instructional lecture, lab, and clinical courses in Dental Hygiene and eligible courses in the Dental Assistant program.
Continuous curriculum development, including the design, revisions, and implementation of instructional materials and assessment of learner outcomes
Integration of assessment activities into teaching practices and participation in department and college-wide assessment of student learning
Support of the success and development of students through the use of a variety of instructional methods, available office hours, and by providing additional resources
Development and implementation of on-campus, online, and hybrid courses
Contribution to department decisions on budget, scheduling, textbook selection, etc.
Participation in discipline, team, campus, and college matters through service on committees; attendance at regular meetings; and continued professional development
Support and advance the department and college mission through ideas and projects
Salary Range:
Min $44,144 - Max $96,906
Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement
Bachelor's degree and a graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program.
Occupational Experience Requirement
Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a dental hygienist.
Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement
Current Dental Hygienist License from the Minnesota Board of Dentistry.

Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired, or shall be required to complete coursework in the above content areas (or their equivalent) prior to being granted unlimited status.

These courses shall be waived for individuals who at the time of hire have: a degree in education, or have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework in the specified teaching and learning content areas, or have three years of successful, full-time (or equivalent) secondary, postsecondary, industry, or trade apprenticeship teaching experience in the field for which they are being hired. ** This course shall be waived for individuals who, at the time of hire, have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework. (Procedure 3.32.1 College Faculty Credentialing, Part 5, Subpart B.3)
Preferred Qualification
Preference will be given to candidates who are graduates of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and who hold a master's degree or higher.
Experience with preparing and leading the program accreditation process with CODA
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Successful previous experience teaching in higher education, preferably at a 2-year college, including curriculum development and assessment experience.
Experience and interest in using alternative delivery methods such as online and/or blended delivery methods.
Relevant professional experience and qualifications as a Dental Assistant instructor, including: bachelor's degree and graduate of an accredited dental assisting program; three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a dental assistant; one year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
Courses are scheduled Monday - Friday. Additional hours outside course times are required for completion of other professional non-instructional programs and program-related activities.
