Description

Staff Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), a strong accounting and technical background, and expertise in the month-end close process. This role requires strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, in-office environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.

Reconcile bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and intercompany transactions.

Assist in financial statement preparation, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.

Work with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) to process and analyze financial data.

Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and provide recommendations for process improvements.

Support audit and tax preparation by maintaining organized records and providing necessary documentation.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.

Assist in developing and implementing internal controls to improve financial accuracy and efficiency.

Participate in financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

5+ years of accounting experience; experience in a corporate or public accounting setting preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is required.

Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and month-end close processes.

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present financial data.

Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and accuracy.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team player in an in-office setting.

Strong communication skills and ability to interact with various levels of management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and process improvements.

Experience with automating accounting processes or working with ERP systems.
