Job Overview

John Vena Inc. (JVI) is a specialty produce wholesaler, distributor, and importer that's been sourcing fruits, vegetables, and herbs from hundreds of growers around the world and distributing them to retailers, foodservice distributors, and food manufacturers in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast since 1919. As the Warehouse Shift Supervisor, oversee the receiving and distribution of some of the most interesting and exciting specialty produce. You will report to the Director of Operations and will be an integral part of leadership. This fast-paced role is for someone who is collaborative, energetic, and wants to be involved in resource planning while having cross-functional warehouse knowledge.

This role has a requirement to work on-site in the warehouse.

About the Job

What does a Warehouse Shift Supervisor do? Your primary focus will be to make sure operations run smoothly during the shift. This person will be overseeing order management, customer service, product receiving, put-aways, and inventory rotation, all while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. The Warehouse Shift Supervisor's team will consist of managing employees such as Receivers, Selectors (Order Pickers), and Boxmen, making sure that accuracy is key when it comes to order picking, checking, and shipping. Other tasks to take on comprise of labor management (including monitoring attendance, task tracking, and scheduling). Onboarding and training new hires, performance evaluations, coaching, and providing feedback to your team are also important tasks to be completed in this role.

What else will you be doing?

Collaboration: Continuity of operations is key. Strong collaboration skills to communicate to other Shift Supervisors is essential. Communicating with the Sales and Production teams, including proactively addressing operational issues and that customer satisfaction is met is also important.

Safety Management: Ensuring compliance with safety protocols, managing equipment and supply needs, and leading effective communication between shifts and departments.

Accuracy: Besides the team's responsibilities, also overseeing product rotation and cooler maintenance to ensure cleanliness and organization.

New Hire Engagement: Providing training and assessments for new employees.

Leadership: Lead by example by remaining flexible, adaptable, professional, fair, and respectful.
