The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As Finance Manager for the Abrasive Systems Division, you will be a key member of the United States and Canada (USAC) Area Leadership team for the Abrasive Systems Division (ASD) business. In addition to the Area team, you will collaborate with the Global Portfolio, Supply Planning, and R&D leaders as well as have a close connection with ASD Division Leadership team to drive a culture of performance and continuous improvement, shaping operational strategies that align with both short-term and long-term objectives. Here, you will make an impact by:
Be a business partner to the Area Division Leader in USAC & provide financial leadership to the USAC area team for ASD business.
Drive robust processes in financial planning & analysis to improve business results, target attainment & accountability.
Facilitate regular discussions on forecast outlook with risks and opportunity assessment, action plans with area and business teams on a regular basis, including but not limited to weekly forecast update & monthly forecast estimate.
Accountable for Longview submission for monthly estimate, operating planning, and providing support for the long-term Strategic Plan.
Leverage data across multiple systems and platforms to articulate sources of growth performance & variances.
Connect operational actions to financial planning to drive accountability & execution.
Engage in SIP/SPT, CIP, and other investments to drive growth and commercial excellence.
Influence area & business team with analyses & insight to improve cash flow, including AR DSO, AR past due resolution, DIO & NWI performance & attainment.
Engage with Global Portfolio teams & other cross-functional teams to drive portfolio management, price, mix and margin improvement, and return on investment optimization.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial procedures.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified before start)
Five (5) years of finance experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
MBA or graduate degree in Finance from an accredited institution
Ability to manage multiple workstreams and conflicting deadlines
Solid business knowledge and acumen, as well as a strategic thinking mindset
Thinks broadly of intersections between business, financial, and economic data
Creative problem solving - ability to work with a variety of functional teams to address key issues
Ability to translate data into meaningful financial insights and analysis
Previous experience in a Business Finance role
Self-starter with the ability to drive change
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Experience leading others and contributing to cross-functional teams
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Risk management analysis skills
Experience with Longview
Experience with developing Power BI tools
Work location:
On-site: Maplewood, MN, at least 4 days per week
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
