The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality's (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety, and welfare.
The Attorney 4position will afford the successful incumbent the opportunity to represent LDEQ in Human Resource and employment matters, as well as, the opportunity to represent LDEQ in matters related to environmental law.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law plus three years of experience as a practicing attorney.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
The successful incumbent will serve as the primary legal counsel for the Office of Management and Finance's Human Resources Division; will provide advice on personnel matters, including policy and procedure development and revision, disciplinary actions, and compliance with various state and federal employment laws (i.e., Americans With Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, etc.).
The successful incumbent will assist in drafting, revising and issuing various letters of improvement, Louder mill notices, and Notices of Disciplinary Action issued by the Department.
The successful incumbent will serve as the Department's Ombudsman assisting individuals in understanding the Department's policies and procedures as they relate to such functions as permitting, remediation, and enforcement.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Either a probationary appointment, job appointment (a temporary appointment not to exceed four years), or promotion of a permanent classified employee. If the position is filled as a job appointment, it could be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available.
Domicile: East Baton Rouge
Compensation: This position offers a Special Entrance Rate (SER) listed below. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Attorney 4- $34.26 per hour or $2,740.80 Biweekly
