Description

These teams provide the financial fuel that keeps our operation running from providing detailed analyses of financial planning, performance, and forecasts to managing our investments and financial strategies. Job overview and responsibilities
Manage, lead and directly oversee staff responsible for processing large multi-state payroll using the PeopleSoft system including all deductions and taxes while remaining compliant with federal, state and local requirements including company policies and labor contracts
Coordinates and oversees others doing skilled work for all activities and functions related to the daily payroll processing for the company
Support and manage direct reports to process daily payroll operations and payroll activities to ensure payroll is processed timely and accurately
Applies leadership skills to improve efficiency and accomplish operational and workflow objectives

Contributes to the overall team strategy, planning, organizing and delegation of resources
Work cross functionally within the department and within the company to drive process improvements and automation while staying up to date on all work group guideline
Manage all payroll PeopleSoft processing functions and activities for multiple work groups while remaining consistent with federal, state and local requirements
Review and analyze PeopleSoft payroll processing functions to ensure accuracy, audit requirements are met and seek process improvements
while reviewing and recommending updates leading to best practice operations
Research and provide guidance on issues while working cross functionally within the department and within the company
Plan, assign, develop and direct staff to meet objectives
Drive process improvements on a team and department basis Understand and research different time and attendance applications and how they interface with PeopleSoft
Monitoring the results of delegation, assignments, or projects, considering the skills, knowledge, and experience of the assigned individual and the characteristics of the assignment or project
Planning and supporting the development of individuals' skills and abilities so that they can fulfill current or future job/role responsibilities more effectively
Provide timely guidance and feedback to help others to strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem
Review work, appraise performance, address issues and solve problems
Run queries and analyze data from PeopleSoft by using pivot tables and lookups as needed
Write requirements, run and analyze data for new queries from PeopleSoft
Collaborate with IT to define, write, review and approve requirements for IT changes to PeopleSoft and time and attendance systems.
Develop, review and approve testing for IT changes in PeopleSoft and time and attendance systems
PLEASE NOTE: This is a Houston-based, hybrid position.
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
High School Diploma/GED required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
3 - 5 years of payroll experience required
2 - 3 years of direct or indirect supervisory experience required
Extensive working knowledge of payroll processes and functions
Multi state payroll knowledge
Must be highly organized and a team player
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and high priorities required
Strong analytical and problem solving skills required
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job required
Ability to provide strong leadership, development and lead staff to excellent performance
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel required
Ability to drive process improvements on a departmental basis required
PeopleSoft payroll experience preferred but not required Excellent time management, follow through and organizational skills required
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

The base pay range for this role is $79,800.00 to $103,966.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
