Job Focus Area
The Louisiana Department of Education's Division of Diverse Learners is seeking an Administrative Program Specialist A to advance the agency's priority of ensuring all students are prepared for success through access to high-quality instruction. This role manages the Louisiana Assistive Technology Initiative (LATI), oversees contracts and budgets, and provides administrative support to the Executive Director. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to supporting the success of Louisiana's diverse learners
Candidates with the following skills and competencies are encouraged to apply :
Program and contract management experience, especially in special education.
Understanding of IDEA, ADA, and assistive technology.
Strong budgeting and fiscal management skills.
Ability to create clear, professional newsletters.
Excellent organization and communication skills.

Driving Results:The ability to identify important goals and work to achieve them.
Managing Resources:The ability to ensure resources such as time, money, and people are utilized appropriately to result in maximum business value.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
As an Administrative Program Specialist A with the Division of Diverse Learners, you will:
-Manage the Louisiana Assistive Technology Initiative (LATI) to ensure students with disabilities have access to assistive technology and educational materials.
-Oversee contracts, purchase orders, and budgets to support diverse learner initiatives and federal/state compliance.
-Support the Executive Director by managing calendars, preparing reports, and handling administrative tasks.
-Develop and share professional communications, such as newsletters and division updates.
-Coordinate logistics for meetings, trainings, and events, including materials, locations, and communication.
-Serve as a liaison with internal teams, external vendors, and school systems to ensure effective program implementation.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule:Work days are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
