About the Role:
As a Senior Operations Manager - Engineering at CBRE, you will leverage your expertise in construction and maintenance engineering to ensure that healthcare facility maintenance and construction projects consistently meet established standards, codes, and best practices. While this role includes oversight of direct reports, its primary focus is on providing strong technical guidance and verification of complex mechanical systems and infrastructure.
You will play a key role in driving the effective implementation of engineering strategies, promoting operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with safety and performance requirements across healthcare environments.
This position is part of the Engineering and Technical Services function, which supports healthcare environments through reactive and preventive maintenance, system evaluations, and compliance-driven inspections to ensure safe, efficient, and high-performing facilities
What You'll Do:
Responsible for a specific portfolio of healthcare facilities. This role requires up to 25% travel to support on-site assessments, project oversight, and client engagement.
Apply advanced engineering and construction expertise to assess, verify, and resolve complex issues related to healthcare facility maintenance and infrastructure systems within a designated portfolio.
Evaluate design documents prepared by other engineers for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project standards and healthcare compliance requirements.
Uphold safety, regulatory, and performance standards across all engineering operations. Continuously improve processes, methods, and standards to drive efficiency and quality.
Oversee contractors, subcontractors, and engineers involved in maintenance and construction activities. Establish bidding procedures and ensure contract compliance.
Monitor and manage daily operations of facility controls and asset management systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Develop and manage annual operating budgets. Forecast and control operations and maintenance costs across multiple healthcare locations.
Schedule and oversee maintenance activities in alignment with client operational needs and healthcare compliance requirements.
Collaborate with clients to support facility reconfigurations, operational changes, and project requirements.
Provide formal supervision to staff, including performance evaluations, coaching, and professional development. Lead recruiting and hiring efforts to build a high-performing team.
Coordinate daily team activities, assign tasks, establish work schedules, and ensure cross-training. Track departmental deadlines and mentor staff as needed.
Lead by example and model behaviors aligned with CBRE RISE values. Influence cross-functional collaboration and align engineering goals with broader business objectives.
Understand the broader impact of engineering decisions across departments and contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement.
What You'll Need:
A bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline is preferred, along with 5-8 years of relevant experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or engineering. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Construction and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) experience is required, preferably in the field supporting commercial or industrial facilities.
Candidates must have experience working with healthcare regulatory agencies and clean room environments.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
The ideal candidate will have experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, performance evaluation, and retention. Strong leadership skills are required to motivate teams and achieve operational goals across multiple disciplines.
Excellent communication skills are essential for conveying complex and sensitive information, setting performance expectations, and resolving operational challenges.
Candidates should demonstrate strategic thinking and the ability to influence cross-functional collaboration. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is required, along with strong organizational skills and an inquisitive mindset.
Experience in developing and managing organizational budgets, including forecasting and cost control across multiple locations, is preferred.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Sr. Operations Manager - Engineering position is $130,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Sr. Operations Manager - Engineering position is $140,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
