Admissions Advisor - NYSOP
POSITION DETAILS
The Admissions Advisor will engage in outreach efforts, with an emphasis on prospective students eligible for the New York State Opportunity Promise (NYSOP) initiative. This strategic state initiative (NYSOP) is designed to increase college degree attainment among adult learners ages 25-55, particularly those with some college but no degree. The successful candidate will report directly to the Admissions Director and/or their designee and assist with executing a comprehensive admissions strategy designed to attract and enroll qualified students.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Coordinate admissions and enrollment initiatives across various campus departments.
Represent Hostos at local and national college fairs, community events, and school visits, with a special emphasis on highlighting the advantages and support offered through NYSOP.
Conduct engaging on-campus and virtual information sessions, campus tours, and recruitment presentations that articulate the benefits of NYSOP alongside Hostos' academic offerings and that attract prospective students from diverse backgrounds.
Facilitate workshops, intake screenings, interviews and orientation for new students, including NYSOP participants.
Collaborate with internal departments and committees to ensure that recruitment strategies are aligned with institutional policies and the strategic objectives of NYSOP outreach.
Maintain up to date with CUNY Admissions and related University policies and procedures.
Serve as a trusted admissions counselor by advising prospective students on academic programs, support services, campus life, and the specific eligibility criteria and application procedures for NYSOP.
Provide timely follow-up communications via phone, email, and in-person meetings to ensure prospective applicants receive all necessary information and guidance.
Serve as the primary liaison with community-based organizations, high schools, and local agencies to foster relationships that drive awareness and enrollment of NYSOP-eligible students.
Maintain a strong network with internal academic and recruitment teams to ensure a unified message regarding the benefits of attending Hostos.
Keep current records, update program databases, and prepare recruitment materials to include NYSOP information and ongoing changes in policies.
Attend meetings and participate in college committees to stay informed of admissions updates and emerging trends impacting the NYSOP portfolio.
Utilize systems such as CUNYfirst and Slate CRM to counsel prospective applicants through the admission and enrollment process, ensuring that those interested in NYSOP receive comprehensive support and guidance.
Assist in the implementation and enhancement of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems under the direction of the Director of Admissions. This involves refining data collection and follow-up processes that are critical for tracking NYSOP applicants.
Performs additional administrative duties to support Admission Office operations.
Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall campus community and ensuring robust on-campus support for both general enrollment and NYSOP operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
The following qualifications are preferred:
Master's degree in a related field.
2-years minimum experience in admissions, recruitment, and higher education.
Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Must be available to travel in the five boroughs of NYC and/or the tri-state area.
Valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation for recruitment events.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Proficient in CRM systems, committed to leveraging technology and analytics in recruitment and marketing strategies.
Experience with CUNYFirst is highly desirable.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

$52,462 - $68,668; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
