HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT:
The accountant supports the Retail (eCommerce & stores) Inventory financial close, including the validation, posting, and reporting of Retail inventory. The accountant is also responsible for ensuring high inventory accuracy by analyzing data, understanding gaps, and developing insights. This individual supports the interim and annual Retail store inventories and partners cross-functionally to support the business and ensure a sound control environment.
This role reports to the Manager, Global Inventory and is based in our Buckhead office in our hybrid work environment.
60%: Accounting & Controls
· Oversee the accuracy and integrity of the retail perpetual inventory system, including receipts, transfers, shrink, and COGS, ensuring alignment with GAAP and company policies.
· Prepare and post inventory-related journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for all retail inventory accounts.
· Perform monthly reconciliations for retail stores and intercompany transactions between Retail and Wholesale operations, including variance analysis.
· Own internal controls related to inventory and support SOX and financial audits by preparing required documentation and analysis.
· Conduct quarterly lower of cost or market (LCM) analysis in partnership with Planning teams and maintain compliance with financial reporting standards.
· Ensure system alignment and data integrity between inventory systems (e.g., Omnia, Sterling OMS, Sales Audit) and financial records.
· Maintain master data for retail locations and ensure timely completion of tasks per financial close calendar.
· Collaborate with IT on inventory system enhancements to support accurate financial processing and reporting.
15%: Cross Functional Collaboration
· Serve as a key liaison across IT, Planning & Allocations, Operations, Omni-Channel, FP&A, Asset Protection, and Sales Audit teams to support inventory accuracy and issue resolution.
· Respond to store inquiries and issues related to inventory discrepancies, theft, donations, or transfers.
· Support development and analysis of shrink reporting using RFID and Omnia data; identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
15%: Budgeting, Forecasting, & Analysis
· Support the annual budgeting process and monitor monthly retail inventory performance against budget and forecast, providing variance explanations and highlighting risks and opportunities.
· Prepare quarterly inventory reserve reports and conduct ad hoc analyses to inform strategic decisions and recommend process improvements.
· Analyze RFID and historical inventory data at the item and store level to generate actionable insights that enhance financial performance.
10%: Inventory Count & Shrink Analysis
· Support interim and annual inventory counts with Retail Operations and third-party providers to ensure accuracy.
· Reconcile count results, analyze shrink trends, identify high-risk areas, and provide guidance on accounting treatment and shrink control improvements.
WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF: Must have:
· Bachelor's degree from accredited 4-year institution required in Accounting or Finance.
· Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
· Highly analytical and detail-oriented professional with strong critical thinking, decision-making, and time management skills.
· Adaptable team player capable of working independently in fast-paced, changing environments while prioritizing tasks effectively.
· Builds strong relationships and delivers clear, high-quality communication to support internal and external partners across functions.
· Intermediate Excel skills.
Preferred skills and experience:
· Retail store experience.
· Initiates follow up on issues through the resolution stage.
· Strong documentation skills.

· Experience working in reporting systems and ability to learn new systems as needed.
· Retail/wholesale inventory experience preferred.
