Accounts Receivable Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team in Paterson, New Jersey. This is a long-term contract position that offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic environment within the higher education sector. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage payment processes, oversee customer service operations, and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and guide cashiering and customer service staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

Oversee payment processing activities, including cash reconciliation, timely bank deposits, and monthly reconciliations in coordination with the Accounting Department.

Provide exceptional customer service by resolving disputes and addressing inquiries from students, parents, and staff.

Manage the billing process by coordinating with internal teams and monitoring automated communication systems.

Collaborate with the Director of Financial Aid to ensure accurate and timely application of financial aid to student accounts.

Coordinate the release of account credits in alignment with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.

Ensure accurate data entry and coding to maintain the integrity and security of student account information.

Handle merchant service accounts and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Student Account Office. Requirements - Proficiency in accounting software systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools.

Strong experience in accounts receivable and billing functions.

Knowledge of cash handling and reconciliation processes.

Familiarity with CRM systems and financial services platforms.

Ability to work collaboratively in a higher education environment.

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Understanding of state and federal financial aid regulations.

Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining data accuracy and security.
