Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Data Entry Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The role involves compounding data entry for up to 350 prescriptions per day, entering formulas for prescriptions from e-scribe, fax, and verbal sources. You will review prescriptions, collaborate with prescribing providers to ensure completeness, and clarify any discrepancies.

Responsibilities

Accurately enter prescription data, patient information, and insurance details into the pharmacy system.

Answer incoming calls and respond to inquiries from patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies in a professional and courteous manner.

Communicate prescription status, insurance coverage, and medication information to patients.

Assist pharmacists in processing refill requests, prior authorizations, and prescription transfers.

Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and pharmacy regulations.

Perform other administrative tasks as needed, such as filing, scanning documents, and inventory management.

Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Essential Skills

Pharmacy technician certification

PTCB certification required for entering verbal prescriptions

Experience with Epic or other EMR systems

Data entry experience in a pharmacy setting

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Compounding experience preferred

Registration in TN preferred

Some compounding experience or knowledge

Experience in data entry with 80-300 prescriptions per day

Work Environment

You will be working in a fast-paced environment with a first shift from 9 AM to 5 PM. The facility is 5,000 sq ft, with an expansion underway to add 4,000 sq ft. The team currently includes 6 pharmacists, with a total staff of 30. There are 6 hoods in place, with 8 more being added as part of our expansion. The organization is a startup pharmacy with plans for rapid growth, offering leadership opportunities.

This is a Contract position based out of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
