Summary The Housekeeping Aid Supervisor is located within Environmental Management Services (EMS) at the Central Iowa Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The primary purpose of this position is to plan and organize manpower utilization by making daily area routines, which outline daily and periodic duties required while working under the direct supervision of the Assistant Chief, EMS. Responsibilities Duties for the position include: Planning and organizing manpower utilization by making daily area routines, which outline daily periodic duties required. Setting work priority, establishing quality control measures, communicating expectations, and assuring acceptable performance and conduct of all direct reports. Assigning work to be performed by individuals or teams based on availability of equipment, staffing levels and materials required. Making recommendations to Assist or Chief of EMS for any personnel actions i.e.: promotions, reassignments, awards. Communicating written and verbally with VACIHCS leaders and front line staff for purpose of coordinating work, communicating service needs, establishing area cleaning routines, quality assurance on services provided, fact-finding, service recovery and assuring the mission of VA is met. Communicating with the Veterans and visitors to assure services are meeting expectations and to gather firsthand feedback on services performed. Supervising/managing and assisting with operations pertaining to equipment management. Ensuring operations, maintenance and use of all EMS equipment is performed in accordance to EMS policy and manufacture's recommendations. Supervising and cleaning of all portions of Non-Critical Reusable Medical Equipment (NCRME), ensuring that cleaning/disinfecting is done in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and department SOP's. Conducting routine and unannounced inspections of areas to assure acceptable levels of quality are met pertaining to EMS services provided. Documenting deficiencies in accordance to established metrics, following up to assure correction and providing oversight to sustainability of corrections. Seeking new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing housekeeping practices. Working under the direct supervision of the Assistant Chief, EMS. Performing as an effective team member of the overall EMS and fully supporting the policies, procedures and tasks developed and communicated by the Chief or Assistant Chief, EMS and the Medical Center management team.
