CNC Machinist I - 2nd Shift

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Responsible to assist in set-up of simple jobs and operation of CNC equipment, tooling maintenance, and ensuring that all required processes are completed to produce parts that meet quality and ISO standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.

Assist in set-ups of simple (uncomplicated and straightforward) jobs and operate conventional, special-purpose, and computerized numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts and fits and assemble machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques. Able to run multiple machines at one time.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:

High School graduate or equivalent.

0-2 years previous machining preferred.

SKILLS:

Performs work under direct supervision.

Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required throughout the workday to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to see print in various sizes and formats. May be required to climb stairs. Must regularly be able to pull and push up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Work environment: Work performed in a production environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time (for Maintenance & Receiving only). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high, in some areas.

Employee Type: Hourly

Salary Minimum: $45,000

Salary Maximum: $50,000
