The Senior Director, Manufacturing Accounting & Finance, will serve as the senior accounting and finance leader for Walmart's Manufacturing business. This role is accountable for end-to-end accounting and finance across all manufacturing operations, encompassing both the central team in Bentonville and the controllers and accounting teams embedded in plants.
This leader will ensure financial integrity, compliance, and performance management while partnering with manufacturing, merchandising, controllership, and enterprise business services (EBS) to deliver operational excellence. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong accounting background and proven experience managing distributed finance and accounting teams.
What you'll do...
End-to-End Finance Leadership
· Provide overall accountability for general accounting, financial reporting, and controls for Walmart Manufacturing.
· Lead the central team in Bentonville and partner directly with controllers and accounting staff at manufacturing facilities.
Accounting & Compliance
· Oversee month-end close for all manufacturing entities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
· Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, internal policies, and Walmart's governance standards.
· Drive consistency and accuracy across plant-level accounting teams.
Financial Performance & Insights
· Monitor and analyze financial performance across plants, providing insights into efficiency, yield, capital governance, and cost optimization.
· Partner with plant leadership to identify risks and opportunities and drive corrective action.
· Deliver timely and actionable financial reporting to senior leadership.
Strategic Finance & Operations Partnership
· Serve as the finance partner to manufacturing leadership, aligning finance strategies with operational goals.
· Guide long-range planning, annual operating plans, and budgeting processes for manufacturing.
· Provide financial oversight for major initiatives, capital investments, ERP implementations, and continuous improvement projects.
Team Leadership
· Lead and develop a high-performing central team, as well as plant controllers and accountants.
· Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across centralized and distributed teams.
· Manage EBS relationships to ensure high-quality service delivery.
What You'll Bring
· 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing multi-site or manufacturing finance operations.
· Proven ability to lead accounting and finance functions for complex operations.
· Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and internal controls.
· Experience in manufacturing finance, including cost accounting, yield analysis, and capital governance.
· Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage both centralized teams and distributed plant finance teams.
· CPA preferred; advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business a plus.
· Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred) and finance automation tools.
Required Knowledge & Competencies
· Deep understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance frameworks.
· Ability to assess and mitigate financial and operational risk.
· Familiarity with global accounting practices, transfer pricing, and tax regulations.
· Strong grasp of KPIs, financial metrics, and operational analytics.
· Experienced in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
· Track record of driving service excellence and continuous improvement.
· Skilled in performance monitoring, root cause analysis, and operational strategy.
· Commitment to creating a culture of belonging and developing high-performing teams.
