DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will organize, direct, and coordinate the development of volunteer resources at Wernersville State Hospital. This will require you to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of consumers comprising the hospital population. Your duties will include planning and directing a volunteer program by adequately assessing consumer needs and developing a plan to match consumer needs with available resources. You will also organize community resources information by maintaining a current file of individuals and agencies, as well as anticipating special and seasonal needs to integrate volunteers with other hospital operations. As a coordinator, you will need to communicate diplomatically and tactfully with consumers, staff, agency administrators, and volunteers so that productive interpersonal relationships and positive public relations are promoted and maintained. This position will consist of identifying existing and potential problems and either resolving the problems or offering suggestions for resolution to higher levels of authority. Additionally, you will also serve on the Board of Volunteers in Service (VIS) and act as liaison between VIS and Hospital Executive Team.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Overtime and travel as needed Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience directing or coordinating the activities of volunteers, and a bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, public relations, social work, or a related field;or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
