GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Corrections, Wyoming State Penitentiary, is seeking a Senior Plumber. This position is responsible for various duties with the WSP plumbing system and preventive maintenance functions throughout a prison facility and property. This position will be responsible for the repairs and upkeep of the facility in all trade areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.
Performs complex duties in the repair, maintenance, installation, and repair of plumbing systems and backflow prevention devices in state buildings.
Recommends energy-saving changes.
Installs, maintains, and repairs fire sprinkler systems and irrigation systems.
Oversees the operation of steam boiler plants.
Works with engineers on new system design, troubleshooting, testing, and startup of new systems.
Works carefully to follow all current regulations for plumbing work to ensure that all installed systems pass inspections.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to those applicants with 2-4 years of progressive work experience in a skilled trade
KNOWLEDGE:
Thorough knowledge of plumbing system maintenance and repairs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Climbing on an occasional to regular basis
Lifting/grasping up to 50 pounds without assistance regularly
Walking/standing on cement floors regularly
Walking up and down stairs regularly
Balancing on an occasional basis
Stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching regularly
Crawling on an occasional basis
Pushing/pulling/reaching regularly
Speaking/hearing frequently
May work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
Perform maintenance on equipment that may not be visible and would require being completed by feel or touch on an occasional basis
The visual ability to operate machinery and perform mechanical or skilled trade duties
The visual ability to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned
