Senior Accountant (Gov Con experience MUST HAVE)

Job Description

The Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, and supporting the preparation of financial statements. This role plays a key part in maintaining compliance with accounting standards and supporting the company's financial health.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger accounts.

Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing and payment tracking.

Reconcile accounts receivable and resolve discrepancies.

Perform bank reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.

Reconcile credit card transactions and revenue accounts.

Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements.

Support audits and provide necessary documentation.

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and implement best practices.

Essential Skills

5+ years' experience in accounting

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field

Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel (including pivot tables and VLookups)

Strong organization, oral and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines

Experience with accounting software and general ledgers

Analytical skills with particular attention to detail

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with Bill.com (not required)

GovCon experience and knowledge of regulations

Experience with joint ventures

Experience in billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable

Work Environment

The company has around 50 employees, and this role is part of a small team of two, with the other person in a bookkeeper function. You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with a consultant CFO. The work environment is dynamic and provides opportunities for collaboration. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $40.87/hr.

Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
