Staff Inventory Accountant

Key responsibilities:

Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts across multiple locations and systems.

Monitor and record inventory transactions, including purchases, transfers, returns, adjustments, and shrinkage.

Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory close activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.

Assist in analyzing inventory variances and identifying root causes of discrepancies.

Partner with operations and supply chain to ensure physical inventory counts (cycle counts and full counts) are completed and properly reflected in financial

records.

Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations of inventory transactions.

Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures related to inventory.

Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements related to inventory tracking and reporting.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain the accuracy and integrity of inventory records.

Review of Intercompany material accounts and sales.

Review the average cost of inventory transactions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

1-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably with inventory experience in a manufacturing, retail, or distribution environment.

Strong understanding of GAAP and inventory accounting principles (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, weighted average).

Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems (Acumatica and Velixo a plus).

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

CPA or working towards certification is a plus.

Experience with cost accounting, standard costing, or manufacturing accounting.

Familiarity with inventory audit procedures and internal controls.
