Summary This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. Responsibilities The primary purpose of this position is: This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position located in the Equipment Maintenance Squadron/Maintenance Squadron/Aircraft Generation Squadron, Aerospace Systems Flight, Fuel Systems Element. The purpose of this position is to serve as section supervisor over employees engaged in condition evaluation, test, repair, modification and overhaul of aircraft fuel system assemblies, components and parts, to include repair of integral fuel tanks. Additionally, trains reservists in the duties and responsibilities set forth herein. DUTIES: Performs work planning. Plans use of workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a daily or by project basis. Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Performs administrative responsibilities. Incumbent participates with various supervisors in performing specific personnel management responsibilities for pneudrualics maintenance production personnel. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WS-8200 Fluid Systems Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Knowledge and practical application of MIS (e.g. CAMS, GO-81) programs OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air ForceReserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in Unit Training Assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities 2. May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. 3. May be required to drive a motor vehicle. As appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position. 4. Performs other related duties as assigned. 5. Position requires the incumbent to obtain and retain a security clearance as designated by security access requirement (SAR) code. 6. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: Receives production work assignments from the Flight Chief orally or through written schedules or plans. Responsible to the Senior ART or Flight Chief, who accomplishes the annual performance appraisal, for accomplishing day-to-day AFRC mission requirements. Independently determines @type and extent of repair action needed to recover aircraft to a flyable condition. Refers to methods and procedures technical orders to affect specific processes. Assures overall work is conducted safely and in accordance with acceptable maintenance practices for aircraft. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds). Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs). Hours of straight pulling are 1 hour per week. Hours of pushing are 1 hour per week. Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 4 hours per week. Hours of standing are 10 hours per week. Hours of crawling are 1 hour per week. Hours of kneeling are 1 hour per week. Hours of repeated bending are 3 hours per week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle may be required. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception.
