Job Summary

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Michigan invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish, with a specialization in Latin American and/or Caribbean Studies. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work challenges traditional national language or identity-based models, with preference for Black and/or Indigenous studies, in any period. This is a university-year appointment to begin August 25, 2026.

Required Qualifications*

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Hispanic Studies or a relevant discipline, and have a demonstrated capacity to teach courses in their area of expertise in Spanish.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.
