Job Description - Senior Accountant

Our client, a publicly traded services company supporting the energy industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their growing team. This role offers exposure to a complex corporate structure, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and opportunities to contribute to a culture focused on continuous improvement, compliance, and operational excellence.

General Summary

As a Senior Accountant, you will oversee key accounting functions with a strong emphasis on internal controls, IT systems, and compliance. You'll support the integrity of accounting processes, financial systems, and reporting activities while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies. This role requires a professional with deep knowledge of accounting principles, U.S. GAAP, and IT control environments, including SOX. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and thrives in a fast-paced, publicly traded environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the operations, accuracy, and maintenance of accounting system controls.

Partner with Finance, Operations, and IT teams to evaluate, strengthen, and document system processes and internal controls.

Coordinate with internal and external auditors on IT financial control testing and SOX compliance.

Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, variance analyses, and other accounting reports for multiple subsidiaries.

Support the preparation of audited financial statements and collaborate on accounting policy updates for new or emerging issues.

Contribute to budget and forecast processes by providing accurate and timely financial data.

Identify opportunities to streamline, centralize, and automate accounting processes.

Maintain a strong control environment while fostering collaboration and accountability.

Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems required.

6+ years of progressive accounting, auditing, compliance, or risk management experience.

Strong understanding of IT systems, ITGCs, SOX requirements, and system-related controls.

Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.

CPA certification or master's degree preferred.

Experience in Big 4 or public accounting a plus.

Familiarity with enterprise accounting systems; NetSuite experience preferred.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and communicate complex information effectively.

Skilled in analyzing, summarizing, and presenting financial data clearly and concisely.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related applications.
