Job Summary:
The Software Engineering Manager will lead a team of high-performing Software and DevOps Engineers for Panasonic Energy North America as we develop and deliver a smart factory solution. The candidate will manage and oversee the design and development of software applications for PECNA. We are looking for someone with experience leading development projects and managing engineering teams and who is passionate about building high-performing team cultures. You will join an established team with ripe opportunities for mentoring growing leaders. In addition, you will be responsible for continuing to build out our team as we develop a smart factory.
Essential Duties:
The Software Engineering Manager will lead a team of software engineers in developing new software products and enhancements.
They will also oversee the definition and documentation of business and technical design requirements. In addition, oversees the preparation of design specifications, analysis and recommendations.
The Software Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with other engineering managers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure that deliverables are met on time and within budget.
Provides consistent guidance and direction to each individual, sets goals and objectives, reviews performance, develops career plans, and handles any issues or concerns.
Manages projects by monitoring progress against milestones/deliverables; communicating to all stakeholders; managing issue resolution; escalating risks/concerns as appropriate; modifying plans when necessary to achieve successful project completion.
Participates in business case development for proposed solutions providing accurate estimates of effort required for implementation.
Responsible for developing Software security architecture & design review

Qualifications
Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education:
Basic: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or closely related discipline, and/or equivalent related work experience
Essential Qualifications:
A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering/development is required for this role.
2+ years of experience in Agile practices
7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go
2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
4+ years of experience in open-source frameworks
Proven expertise in several programming languages such as Java, C++ or C# OO design
Excellent communication skills are required as this person will collaborate closely with other engineering managers, product managers, and stakeholders.
Experience in leading projects and coordinating with cross-functional teams
An appreciation for those factors beyond coding that create a high-performance, efficient, and enjoyable working environment for software engineers
Expertise in .NET framework, C/C++, C#, JavaScript, HTML 5, CSS, AJAX, ASP.NET, MVC or other common UI patterns
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of people management experience is preferred
PL/SQL and Oracle 11g preferred
A willingness to learn can be substituted for experience in the following tech stack
Frontend: Typescript, React, Redux
Backend: Typescript, Express, Hapi, Apache Kafka, PostgreSQL
Competence with Excel, PowerPoint, and Minitab (or other similar software)
