Controller / Full Charge Bookkeeper - Retail Operations

Our client, a thriving retail company based in Orange County, is seeking a Controller / Full Charge Bookkeeper to join their collaborative team and help scale operations. Key Responsibilities:

Oversee full-cycle accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger.

Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and management reports.

Own the month-end and year-end close processes.

Improve and maintain reporting systems and internal controls.

Provide detailed cash flow analysis and support strategic financial planning.

Collaborate across departments to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.

Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

Identify and implement process improvements to support business growth.

Serve as a trusted financial partner to ownership and operations.

Qualifications:

5+ years of full charge bookkeeping or controllership experience, ideally in a retail or inventory-based business.

Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks (or similar accounting software).

Proven experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and payroll.

Excellent analytical skills and a detail-oriented mindset.

Team-oriented with strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Self-starter with the desire to contribute to a growing organization long-term.

Requirements

Proficiency in QuickBooks, including QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Pro.

Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.

Expertise in general ledger management and journal entry preparation.

Familiarity with payroll processes and computerized accounting systems.

Ability to perform month-end close procedures with accuracy and attention to detail.

Solid understanding of cash flow analysis and financial reporting.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively
