Join a mission-driven team in the State Rapid Response (Office of Health Facility Complaints) Unit of the Health Regulation Division, where you will contribute to protecting, maintaining, and improving the health of all Minnesotans!
The purpose of this position is to protect vulnerable individuals receiving care in facilities licensed and/or certified by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) through investigating allegations of compliance violations and/or of maltreatment. Critical to this role is the ability to apply nursing and health related knowledge to evaluate data obtained, interviews conducted, and observations completed during an investigation. The person hired for the position will also be responsible for documentation of the investigations and statements of deficiencies as it relates to compliance and maltreatment.
Working as a Rapid Response Evaluator within the team, you will:
Evaluate provider's compliance with state and federal rules and laws and investigate allegations of non-compliance and/or maltreatment.
Compile and record the investigation information which supports conclusions reached and documents the degree of compliance with state and federal statutes and rules.
Make unannounced follow-up site visits to ascertain compliance with correction orders previously issued.
Attend legal proceedings and testify regarding substantiated complaint cases, uncorrected orders/deficiencies and other matters as required, to assure that the department's findings/position are properly presented, clarified and supported.
Position location will be determined by the top candidate and will be based out of the closest Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) office location.
The hours of work are generally between 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Monday- Friday and the need for early morning, evening and weekend work hours are determined by the investigation workload.
When not traveling or onsite at facilities, the remaining follow-up work is performed by teleworking from your home office.
Reimbursement for authorized business travel expenses is provided according to bargaining unit guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications

Currently licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse, without restriction.
AND
Two (2) years of professional experience in a health care setting in positions that may include the following work experience:
Registered Nuse (RN)
Charge Nurse (must include at least two years working as an RN Charge Nurse)
RN Supervisor
Director of Nursing
Health Care Administrator
A degree in Nursing, Public Health, Health Care Administration, Psychology, Social Work, in the medical field or closely related area may substitute for experience as follows:
Doctorate degree: 24 months
Master's degree: 18 months
Bachelor's degree: 12 months
Associate degree: 6 months
Additional Requirements to be assessed during the interview process:
Thorough knowledge of applicable standards of practice, rules and regulations.
Ability to simultaneously handle several investigations across different license @types with different regulatory requirements.
Ability to maintain complete and accurate investigation files.
Ability to communicate concepts, ideas and information in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing.
Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective excellent working relationships.
Computer skills sufficient to document findings and write reports.
Preferred Qualifications
Clinical and/or management experience in assisted living facilities and/or home care.
Previous experience conducting regulatory, licensing, and/or healthcare-related investigations.
Experience working with diverse backgrounds, religions, or gender identities.
Ability to speak multiple languages; bilingual.

This position requires successful completion of a background check and employment reference check.
This employment does not require a driver's license, but it does demand travel, which the candidate will be responsible for meeting.
