THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for a range of analytical, preventative maintenance, and repair tasks for a fleet that includes construction equipment, trucks, and automobiles powered by gasoline or diesel engines. Your duties will encompass working on hydraulic, electric, heating, cooling, and exhaust systems, as well as both manual and automatic transmissions. You will also conduct state vehicle inspections for all relevant equipment, complete necessary work orders, accurately log time spent on tasks, and promptly report any accidents or damage to the equipment.

Additionally, you will perform maintenance and repairs on various machinery, such as sweepers and front-end loaders, which involves replacing components like shock absorbers, transmissions, and brakes, as well as balancing wheels and ensuring proper alignment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment.

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

Dual shifts 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, overtime, and travel may be required. Work hours subject to seasonal change.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program(Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or

Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License.

Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Conditions of Employment:

All employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders within the probationary period.

Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.

Certain positions may require employees to possess a valid Pennsylvania Class 4, or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment.

Certain positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.

This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.

Additional Requirement:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
