THE POSITION
Engineering District 8-0 is excited to announce an opening for a full-time Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor. We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented professional to join our team in this essential position. You will be responsible for overseeing transportation construction projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and comply with both local and federal regulations. Your expertise will be vital in upholding safety standards and contributing to the integrity of our infrastructure. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this critical position, you will serve as the Inspector-In-Charge for highway construction projects that involve a limited range of operations, or you may assist on larger projects by overseeing specific tasks. Your responsibilities will include supervising the inspection of materials and workmanship to ensure they meet contract requirements and established standards. You will verify cuts and fills, check elevation grades and structure stakeouts, and oversee the inspection and placement of all materials. Your expertise will be essential in interpreting contract requirements for contractors and subordinates, as well as instructing them on sampling, testing, and inspection techniques. Additionally, you will perform calculations and sketches to help resolve any field issues that arise, prepare reports, and maintain necessary records. Participation in constructability reviews and scheduling meetings will also be part of your role, ensuring that all tasks are completed by their respective deadlines.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or
Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology;or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
