Job Summary and Qualifications
Director, Medical Staff Services for Swedish
Responsible for:
Overall administration of the Dept
Maintain specific department & Medical Staff policies and governing documents (in conjunction with the Division and corporate leadership)
Facilitate meetings:
Medical Executive Committee
Credentials Committee
Leadership/Professionalism/Citizenship cte
Others as determined by hospital and Division leadership
ED call schedules (** this may be moving to a centralized model)
Support functions for the Medical Staff Officers
Maintain the Business courtesy log in coordination with the facility ECO
Coordinate the Medical Staff dues within the corporate guidelines & external accounting/banking
Maintain the MSO facility budget
Facilitate onboarding of new medical staff members
Badges for Med Staff, Med/APP students, shadowing, etc
Maintain regulatory compliance for Medical staff
FPPE (** this may be moving to a centralized model)
Prepare files for Dept Chair review & cred committee
II. Position Requirements:
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: NAMSS Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) and/or Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.
B. Education: Bachelors' Degree in health care administration, business or a related field of study or an equivalent
combination of training and experience
C. Experience:
Five to seven years of progressively more responsible experience as a medical staff services professional within a hospital setting. Must have successful experience in medical staff credentialing, basic medical staff organization structure/governance, and regulatory requirements.
D. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Technical knowledge and proficiency in applying principles, concepts and techniques which are central to the Hospital's Medical Staff governance. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and integrity in order to develop trusting relationships at varying levels. Able to appropriately represent the Medical Staff leadership in hospital operations. Proven leadership and analytical abilities, to support ongoing flexibility in addressing issues that arise demanding immediate attention and/or continued surveillance with effective outcomes. Well-organized for prioritization of responsibilities. Systematic thinking, problem-solving, decision-making and negotiating abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present information and ideas in a concise, professional manner. Ability to be productive and calm in pressure situations and deal with rapid succession of different @types of requests/tasks simultaneously. Computer literacy and data base management, comprehensive understanding of medical terminology. Proven abilities in supervision of personnel and fiscal management.
