Director, U.S. Industrials Corporate Banking
Through industry specialty groups (including energy, project finance & infrastructure, power & utilities, financial institutions and Consumer, Industrials, & TMT ("CIT")), US Corporate Banking (CB) is responsible for client coverage including originating, structuring, syndicating, and managing investment grade and non-investment grade credit-related products for CIBC's US corporate clients as well as sourcing capital markets activity. CB professionals work closely with Investment Banking, Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, our Global Derivatives teams in providing financing solutions to our clients.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Head of U.S. CIT Corporate Banking Group in New York, The Director will play a critical role in driving the origination of new business opportunities and managing corporate client relationships within U.S. Industrials. This role emphasizes proactive client engagement, the identification of capital markets opportunities, and the execution of complex transactions to support the growth of the business
How You'll Succeed
Support origination of new transactions by maintaining an active calling program with senior management of corporate clients. Cultivate and expand capital markets relationships, identifying opportunities to deliver tailored solutions across loans, trade finance, securitization/ABS, DCM, derivatives, and investment banking.
Work alongside the senior bankers to delivery bespoke content to clients related to corporate finance and capital markets activity.
Responsible for understanding and analyzing complex transactions and for conducting due diligence.
The Director will be perceived both internally and externally as an expert in the area of corporate finance topics and will be expected to apply a complete and current understanding of these concepts in marketing to new clients and the management of the existing portfolio.
Guide and mentor junior bankers in their analysis of accounts, ensuring the preparation of high-quality credit applications supported by robust financial, business, and market analysis. Review and refine recommendations on credit applications and risk ratings, ensuring alignment with the bank's risk appetite and strategic objectives.
Actively monitor the credit quality and exposure by, staying informed on client performance, industry trends, and economic developments. Ensure consistent application of risk rating policies and provide recommendations to maintain a high-quality portfolio.

You can demonstrate experience with:
Minimum 6+ years related experience;
Unquestioned professionalism, ethics and reputation. Approach to the workplace is based on open communication in a team atmosphere.
Advanced working knowledge of credit documentation, capital structuring, and key financing products associated with corporations in the Industrials sector.
Sophisticated analytical skills in order to assess opportunities and credit risks.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate complicated concepts and recommendations to existing and target clients as well as internal partners.
Excellent organization and time management skills to deal with multiple/conflicting demands and time constraints. Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility in dealing with a rapidly changing business environment.
Ability to mentor and develop junior members to achieve team objectives.
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary of $200,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
