Adjunct Faculty - Film Production
who will be all-in on our mission and whois responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in assigned Film Production courses and supporting student learning through effective teaching methods. This includes facilitating classroom, online, or tech-supported learning environments; preparing course materials; evaluating student performance; and maintaining subject matter expertise. The role also involves engaging in departmental activities and promoting a positive, student-centered academic experience.
This position is filled on an as needed basis, contingent upon institutional needs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required:Bachelors degree in Film Production or closely related field.
Preferred:Masters degree in Mass Communication or Masters degree with at least eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Film, Broadcast Production, Radio/TV Production, Communication, or Mass Communication.
EXPERIENCE:
Required:Two (2) years of full-time professional experience (or equivalent part-time) in film production, audio/video production, or broadcast production.
Preferred:Previous post-secondary teaching experience in film or media-related courses.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, learner-centered instruction in Film Production courses.
Develop and implement effective lesson plans that align with course objectives and promote active student learning.
Create and maintain a comprehensive course syllabus in accordance with college guidelines.
Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently, providing timely and constructive feedback.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
Provide academic support to students outside of class through scheduled office hours, email, or virtual meetings.
Participate in course and curriculum development, assessment, and revision as needed.
Submit required forms and reports (e.g., grades, attendance, syllabi) in a timely and accurate manner.
Attend required orientations, training sessions, and departmental meetings.
Support college initiatives and uphold institutional policies and procedures.
Integrate technology and multimedia tools into instruction to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
Collaborate with other faculty and staff to support program goals, cross-disciplinary initiatives, and student success efforts.
Participate in student recruitment, outreach, and retention activities when requested.
Assist students in preparing for careers in film and media through mentorship, portfolio development, or connecting them with industry resources and internship opportunities.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of instructional quality by engaging in peer observations and feedback cycles.
Perform other work-related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong command of English language and grammar, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in using digital editing tools and media production software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, After Effects).
Deep understanding of film production processes, including pre-production planning, cinematography, directing, sound, lighting, and post-production techniques.
Knowledge of current trends, standards, and best practices in the film and media industry.
Ability to apply learner-centered teaching methods that accommodate a variety of learning styles and diverse student populations.
Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to meet deadlines and manage multiple instructional tasks simultaneously.
Ability to assess student learning through the development and application of meaningful assignments, assessments, and grading rubrics.
Ability to inspire and motivate students by demonstrating passion for the subject matter and a commitment to student success.
Ability to maintain professional integrity and confidentiality when dealing with student records and academic performance.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills to address classroom challenges and student needs proactively.
Ability to foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to academic exploration and creativity.
Knowledge of accreditation standards and instructional compliance in higher education.
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in both teaching methodology and film production skills.
Ability to represent Amarillo College in a professional manner within the community and among industry partners.

Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.
Work Conditions:Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events as necessary.)
