MIG Welder

Currently hiring MIG welders in the University Park, IL area. Hiring immediately.

Job Description

Perform MIG welding on mild carbon steel, mainly 12 gauge, in various positions.

Utilize grinders and other hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers.

Read blueprints as required.

Transport materials using a hand cart.

Complete projects within the allotted target time, which can range from 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on experience and product.

Lift up to 75 lbs as needed.

Operate a hydraulic welding table.

Dedicate 90% of the day to MIG welding and the remaining 10% to material transport and tool usage.

Essential Skills

Experience in welding in vertical, horizontal, and circular positions.

Work Environment

Work in a heavy industrial environment with 40 welding booths equipped with hydraulic tables, fabrication machinery, conveyors, and forklifts. The setting is not well-lit and can be dirty. Required PPE includes steel toe boots, eye protection, hoods, gloves, and sleeves, which are provided. The workplace is non-union, and 65% of employees are Spanish-speaking.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
