Summary This position is located at the Eagle Peak Golf Course at NSA Mid-South. The primary function of this position is to assist the Golf Course Manager in the control of play on the course, assist in the facilitation of golf lessons, assist in the operation of the golf pro shop and clubhouse, and fill in for the Golf Course during their absence. Incumbent shall assist in planning and execution of tournaments and special events. Responsibilities Incumbent assists in planning ways and means to develop increased interest, patronage, and services of the various golf program areas. Assists in organizing and scheduling the work force to provide effective and efficient service for a 27-hole Championship Golf Course with an average of 40K-50K rounds of play per year, an Executive Golf Course with less than 9-holes with an average of 2,500 rounds of play per year, a putting green, driving range, practice area and practice green, pro shop, club storage room, plus an average of one hundred and twenty electric golf carts. Assists with the responsibility for the efficient operation of the Golf Pro Shop and assigned Recreation Staff. Ensures correct pricing on resale merchandise, ensures resale merchandise is properly displayed in the shop upon delivery and makes recommendation for improving resale activities. Assists patrons in the selection of equipment and related items. Ensures all transactions are carried out according to supervisory instructions. Ensures that instructions pertaining to the security of all monies are adhered to. Conducts individual golf lessons. Teaches and demonstrates the proper use of all @types of golf equipment and ensures proper fittings. Performs golf club repairs for patrons. 2 Assists in providing rigid supervision of course play and plans, promotes, and assists in the planning and staging of golf tournaments, intramurals and special events. Assists the Golf Course Manager in the programming of golf programs. Must maintain good relations with patrons to promote maintain and improve golf enthusiasm. Directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors, manages activity employees. Trains, schedules work, appraises performance, counsels assigned personnel, and recommends personnel actions. Responsible for computing maintaining and posting handicaps; computing and maintaining individual league play; handicaps and posting standing of leagues and tournaments. Maintains close relations with both the men and women's associations. Conducts training program for assigned employees. Trains personnel in the proper performance of their duties, use of efficient work methods and safe practices. Ensures proper work levels in quality and quantity are met. Assists in the responsibility for the proper maintenance and security of assigned areas and spaces during his/her respective shifts. Makes recommendations for improvement of facilities. Informs the Golf Course Manager of requirements and condition of assigned spaces. Performs such other duties as required by the Golf Course Manager of requirements and condition of assigned spaces. Must be capable of making decisions of a wide variety with reference to U.S. Golf Association regulations, Professional Golf Association regulations, supervisory directives, recreational sports service to eligible patrons, to a diversified group, or to individuals 3 whose interests must be developed and/or sustained.
