Role Overview:
The Staff Accountant assists with escalated research and resolution issues, end-of-day procedures, and supervision surrounding the Indiana State Central Collection Unit at the Child Support Bureau. You will also work with a leadership team for continued unit development.
This position involves child support payments and exceptions, and requires adherence to strict deadlines.
Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are:
Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records financial reports to assess compliance with procedural standards.
Maintain or examine the records of government agencies.
Advise the appointing authority and/or controller of the status of all accounts.
Develop policies and procedures for general accounting and bookkeeping.
Oversee usage of the computerized accounting system.
Establish work methods and control measures for accounting/bookkeeping functions.
Certify the accuracy of the agency's financial records and accounts.
Review reports for grant reconciliation for grant funded accounts.
Direct program staff in accounting matters relating to specific program funding.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours that may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
Credentials:
Extensive knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of public accounting.
Experience in child support payments and exceptions is a plus.
Additional qualifications:
Proficient in end-of-day and other related reporting.
Experienced in staff leadership.
Demonstrated ability to understand and apply program-related banking concepts such as RDIs, debit/credit memos, etc.
Possesses strong attention to detail.
Able to meet strict deadlines.
Abel to adhere to program policies.
Able to lead projects.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
