Nevada County is seeking a County Information Security Officer to plan, organize, direct and control the activities and staff of the County's Information Security Program. This includes the areas of cybersecurity awareness, risk assessment, security policies, business impact analysis, disaster recovery and business resumption. Act as an advocate for the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the County's information assets; provide expert professional assistance to Board of Supervisors and County management staff in areas of cybersecurity.
The County Information Security Officer (CISO) reports to the Information and General Services Agency Director and is held accountable for the success of the Information Security Program. May act on behalf of the Department Head.
Duties include:
Manage and implement the Countywide Information Security Program
Develop and maintain Information Security Policies
Maintain current knowledge of developing security threats, providing guidance to technical teams on mitigations
Architect the County's defensive systems and efforts
Advise departments on cybersecurity elements of their Continuity of Operation Plans
Develop and manage County's cybersecurity awareness training program
Perform Information Security Assessments on scheduled and ad-hoc basis
Acts as a consultant to all County information technology functions in the review and application of security policies to computer operations, system security, computer applications, and network and data security
Lead investigations into suspicious County network activity; recommend remediation steps
Advises Board of Supervisors on cybersecurity related issues
Maintain current knowledge of Federal, State and local laws and regulations affecting information systems and data security
Supervises assigned staff, including reviewing and approving employee schedules, ensuring staff training and development, completing employee performance evaluations, and assigning and reviewing work
Drives a county vehicle on a daily or weekly basis to several county building locations to transport required materials and supplies.
The County Information Security Officer is an integral part of the County's Information and General Services team whose mission is to be a healthy, effective high performing organization who are committed to serve and support our county and community. This position is crafted for individuals who have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferably with work in computer science, information systems, engineering or closely related field, and two years in managerial or supervisory capacity. Retirement
The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and also provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
