Inventory Technician - Cannabis Retail

The Inventory/Vault Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity, security, and compliance of all cannabis inventory operations within the dispensary. This role ensures that all products are accurately received, stored, tracked, and reconciled in accordance with New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) regulations and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs). This position requires a detail-oriented, organized, and trustworthy individual who can manage sensitive inventory within a highly regulated environment.Key Responsibilities: Inventory Control & Compliance Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records in the dispensary's POS and track-and-trace systems (e.g., BioTrack or Canix). Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inventory audits, reconciliations, and cycle counts. Ensure all cannabis products are properly labeled, tagged, and stored according to OCM packaging and storage requirements. Monitor expiration dates, damaged goods, and discrepancies, and report immediately to Inventory Manager. Prepare and manage manifests for all inbound/outbound cannabis transfers, ensuring compliance with OCM transport and chain-of-custody regulations.Vault Operations Maintain vault organization and cleanliness to meet or exceed OCM security and sanitation standards. Verify quantities and condition of incoming shipments from cultivators/processors. Ensure vault access is limited to authorized personnel and log all entries/exits as required. Manage destruction of expired or unusable product per SOPs and OCM regulations, ensuring proper documentation. Technology & Record-Keeping Accurately input and update inventory in POS and seed-to-sale software in real time. Generate and submit inventory reports required by internal management and/or OCM Maintain detailed logs and documentation for product intake, transfers, adjustments, and disposal.Team Collaboration & Support Work closely with sales floor staff to fulfill online and in-store orders. Communicate inventory issues promptly to management and compliance personnel. Participate in regular compliance and inventory training sessions.Required Qualifications: Must be 21 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. At least 2 years of inventory, logistics, or vault experience (cannabis industry preferred). Strong understanding of NYS OCM cannabis regulations (or willingness to learn and adhere strictly). Strong organizational and data entry skills with high attention to detail. Familiarity with inventory software, track-and-trace systems, and compliance platforms (e.g., BioTrack, Canix, Dutchie). Ability to pass a state-mandated background check.Physical & Schedule Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Regular access to secure, limited-access areas. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in cannabis retail inventory or compliance roles. OSHA or HIPAA certification (as applicable to cannabis handling). Experience working in highly regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals or alcohol.
