Job Title: Accounting Assistant

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Position Type: Contract-to-Hire

Work Environment: Onsite with free parking

Daily Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week (Start time flexible between 9:00-10:00 AM; End time flexible between 5:00-6:00 PM)

Position Overview:

An established company is seeking a dedicated Accounting Assistant to provide exceptional day-to-day accounting support to its team. This role involves working closely with the Controller while assisting with daily tasks and special projects. Candidates should thrive in an ever-changing environment with flexibility and adaptability.

The Accounting Assistant will demonstrate versatility, adaptability, and strong organizational skills to ensure all departmental needs are met effectively. This is a full-time, onsite role that offers flexibility in terms of work schedule as long as consistency is maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

Build strong, trusting relationships across the team to facilitate efficient workflows.

Accurately perform assigned accounting duties with meticulous attention to detail.

Assist with Month-End Close procedures and contribute to creating journal entries.

Build spreadsheets and conduct ad hoc reporting as needed.

Transition financials to new cloud-based systems and organize related information in Asset database.

Assist in the development, implementation, and improvement of accounting policies and procedures.

Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations and run revenue reports.

Update profit and loss (P& L) information and assist in budgeting processes.

Review financial statements for accuracy and compliance.

Prepare documentation for external auditors and organize/update financial records.

Recommend cost-reduction measures and revenue-enhancement strategies.

Attend all departmental meetings and contribute to problem-solving initiatives.

Perform other tasks as directed by leadership.

Requirements

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance (preferred for Entry-Level candidates).

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Microsoft Excel

Strong organizational skills with excellent time management.

Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Critical thinking skills, proactive goal-setting, and problem-solving abilities.

Independent learner comfortable handling confidential information.

Flexibility to pivot between tasks and embrace change without stress.
