Responsibilities If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team and serve as the Law Enforcement Coordination (LEC) Specialist for the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of Illinois. The LEC Specialist develops and implements specific program activities within the District that promote the full and effective use of federal, state, and municipal law enforcement resources toward shared objectives.Program activities include establishing and maintaining communication between the District and federal, state, and local organizations, fostering the exchange of best practices in law enforcement methodology, and coordinating programs of mutual interest by providing a regular forum for agency representatives.Typical work assignments will include: Designing, planning, and directing the dissemination of information related to criminal laws and law enforcement programs. Identifying and facilitating the exchange of information to address interagency law enforcement concerns. Facilitating communication and formulating protocols to address specific law enforcement issues involving operational task forces (e.g. covert drug enforcement, financial crimes, and child exploitation.) Speaking to law enforcement audiences, public, civic, industry and special interest groups about LEC-related issues, and selecting topics to highlight federal efforts to develop and improve law enforcement programs that require coordinated, multi-agency involvement. Reviewing literature on law enforcement, intelligence, and terrorism issues; analyzing changes in legislation, case law, court rules, Department of Justice policies and other issues of direct relevance to District law enforcement. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, your resume must demonstrate at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as experience performing the following @types of work and/or tasks: serving in a law enforcement, public safety, or community engagement role that involved building partnerships among agencies or organizations; coordinating or delivering law enforcement training programs, workshops, or seminars; analyzing and interpreting public safety or crime data to support program objectives; and facilitating meetings or joint initiatives with federal, state, or local law enforcement officials, subject-matter experts, or community partners.
