Collin County Clerk is seeking candidate to fill the position of Deputy County Clerk I, Vital Statistics. This position is responsible for issuing birth and death records to qualified applicants. Responsible for issuing marriage licenses and informal licenses while following state legislative requirements. Reviews marriage licenses, informal license applications, Beer and Wine applications, assumed name documents for accuracy and completion, and scans into appropriate database. Publishes foreclosure notices on the Collin County Appraisal District Website. Collects documents from incoming mail and walk ins, arranges in numerical order to ensure that all documents have been scanned in and processed. Accurately processing Acknowledgement of Paternity (AOP) cases and assisting customers in the proper completion of all AOP requirements. Receives required Veteran documents that are provided to the office to be recorded. Uploads Commissioners Court meeting minutes to database. This position is also responsible for the accurate maintenance of a cash drawer, properly entering all receipts, accurate receipting of money, managing cash, check and credit/debit accounts, and correctly balancing at the end of each business day. Performance of other duties as assigned. Work is performed under the direction of Deputy County Lead Clerk.

Candidates must possess the knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Must have a level of education equivalent to four years of high school. Must have the ability to pass a typing test at the rate of 35 words per minute. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Drivers License with an acceptable driving record and must be able to pass a criminal background check. Candidates must be proficient in the use of software applications including MS Windows and Microsoft Office. The candidate who fills this position must demonstrate strong abilities in the following areas: attention to detail, excellent customer service, organizational and communication skills, multi-tasking and appropriately handling confidential information. This position requires the ability to understand and properly follow all policies and procedures as well as statutes which govern the vital statistics section. Existing knowledge of statutes governing the vitals section is highly preferred. The ability to perform advanced data entry and scanning functions with strong accuracy and attention to detail is preferred. AOP certification must be obtained annually through the Texas Attorney Generals Office. This position must also obtain and uphold clearance status in the Texas Electronic Registrar database. ::: ::: ::: :::

This position requires that you pass a typing test at the minimum rate specified above.

If you have taken a typing test with us within the last 6 monthsthatmeets or exceeds the requirements above, you do not need to take it again.

If you have never takenour typing test,have notmet the requirements above, or it has been more than 6 months since your last test, you will need to take thetestin order for your application to be complete.

Typing tests are administered in the Human Resources Testing roomfrom 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.You do not need an appointment to test, but youwill need to bringagovernment issued photoID.If you have any questions regarding the testing, please feel free to call 972-548-4606.
