Position Summary...
The Director, Construction - New Stores & Fuel will oversee all aspects of new store construction projects, from initial planning and budgeting through project completion and turnover to operations. This role ensures budgets, timelines, and quality standards are achieved while providing strategic leadership to cross-functional teams, driving operational excellence, and upholding regulatory compliance. The Director will play a key role in delivering high-quality new store environments that support business growth and customer experience. The Director of New Store Construction must have extensive experience in ground-up construction and development with sites exceeding 10 acres.
What you'll do...
Lead Construction Budget Management: Drive financial performance by advising on preconstruction budgets, tracking monthly and quarterly reports, resolving contractor claims, and approving payments, change orders, and invoices. Proactively manage project scope and contingencies to ensure budget alignment.
Guide Cross-Functional Project Teams: Offer leadership and guidance to teams working on new store builds and initiatives. Provide feedback on proto@types and design changes, mentor team members on construction guidelines, and incorporate industry best practices to enhance project outcomes.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Set and enforce standards for contractor performance and legal compliance. Collaborate with stakeholders to implement design changes, resolve non-compliance issues, and maintain all necessary certifications and documentation.
Oversee Complex Construction Projects: Manage project schedules, coordinate internal and external partners, resolve conflicts, and serve as the company's representative with municipalities and public officials. Ensure quality and functionality from construction through the warranty period.
Manage Onsite Construction Portfolios: Partner with facility management to define project scope and schedules, minimize operational disruptions, monitor contractor progress, and ensure deliverables align with design specifications and timelines.
Drive Business Strategy and Operational Excellence: Analyze business objectives and customer needs to develop and implement effective strategies, resource plans, and process improvements. Measure outcomes to ensure business goals are achieved and promote a customer-centric environment.
Build High-Performing Teams: Recruit, develop, and retain top talent. Support mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning to build a skilled and engaged construction team.
Champion Integrity and Company Culture: Integrate company standards of integrity and ethics into all activities. Enforce accountability, support open communication, and promote adherence to company values.
Foster Partnerships and Community Engagement: Develop and leverage relationships internally and externally. Sponsor key community outreach initiatives and actively engage stakeholders to support business and associate objectives.

Strong financial acumen in construction budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
