Anticipated Vacancy
This position will perform various clerical duties in the Vance County Maintenance office. Position will operate computer and general office equipment, including calculator, facsimile machine, scanner, and base radio transmission. Duties include typing, filing, copying, answer telephone and direct calls. Have the demonstrated ability to interpret policies and procedures. Administer payroll/time entry in SAP/BSIP system. Create requisitions and mange inventory for safety equipment, cleaning supplies, office equipment/supplies and roadway maintenance materials, including ordering, receiving and maintaining inventory items. Assist employees when necessary with questions pertaining to personnel issues. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, co-workers, vendors and government officials. Candidate should possess the skills to maintain, prioritize daily tasks and manage multi-tasking, while also meeting deadlines. Candidate will work independently. Must have the ability to learn and apply data into in-house computer programs such as SAP and spreadsheets. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral communications. Employee must perform work in accordance with NCDOT workplace and safety policy. Maintain other assortment of files and any additional duties as assigned by employee's supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Management prefers applicants with the following:
Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues
Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
Experience completing and/or maintaining records and reports
Experience interpreting and/or explaining policies, procedures, and laws
Experience with letter writing, using correct spelling, punctuation and proofreading
Additional Expectations:
As being an essential position to Vance County Maintenance and Division 5 Maintenance and Operations this position will be required to work during inclement weather and natural disasters including, but not limited to hurricanes, tropical storms, and winter storms.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
