WILDLIFE AND FISHERIES TECHNICIAN SUPERVISOR/ NORTH EAST LOUISIANA WMA'S
This position is a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician Supervisor that will receive direct supervision from a Biologist Supervisor and will perform daily operations for three wildlife management areas in Northeast Louisiana. The incumbent of this position provides data to Biologists to be used in establishing management or research programs and setting harvest season dates and bag and size limits. This position will participate and provide supervision for construction maintenance activities on Departmental buildings, grounds, roads, levees, equipment, camping areas, and water control structures.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in wildlife or fisheries management, research or conservation; forestry; land management; agriculture; commercial fishery; environmental science; or operation of heavy mobile equipment; OR
Ninety semester hours with eighteen hours in a biological, marine or environmental science, wildlife or fisheries management or research, agriculture, commercial fishery or forestry; OR
A bachelor's degree in a biological, marine or environmental science, wildlife or fisheries management or research, agriculture, commercial fishery or forestry.

Job Duties and Other Information
JOB DUTIES
Duties may include some or all of the following:
Serves as field supervisor to oversee the daily operations of several North East Louisiana WMAs and Refuges and may include but is not limited to the following:
Supervises and participates in habitat management activities including planting food plots, operating water control structures, and conducting control burns.
Supervises and participates in lethal and non-lethal collection of wildlife species for management and research utilizing firearms, baiting, corral traps, rocket nets, and bag checks.
Trains new technicians including the use, maintenance, and calibration of technical equipment.
Makes recommendations concerning purchases of equipment, major repairs, and development projects.
Recommends work procedures for subordinates, transports injured or nuisance animals, work with landowners, other state agencies, federal agencies, and non-governmental organizations and performs any duties necessary for the agency to accomplish its mission.
POSITION- SPECIFIC DETAILS:
This position will be domiciled in Tensas Parish.
Appointment Type:Job appointment, probational appointment, promotional, or detail to special duty.
If filled as a job appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available. Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected.
