Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Vernon, CT - Onsite

Salary Range: $75,000 to $90,000

Type: Contract to Hire

Hours: 8:00am to 4:30pm

Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the organization's financial data and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP. This role manages the monthly accounting close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting, while also overseeing payroll. Reporting to the Owner and VP, the Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with the CFO and outsourced accounting vendor to support financial operations, strengthen internal controls, and implement process improvements. This position is primarily in-person, with virtual training and meetings as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and post monthly journal entries in QuickBooks Online.

Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare monthly cash flow reports for CFO/vendor review.

Compile monthly accounting close package with reconciliations and supporting details.

Run QuickBooks Online reports needed for monthly closing and reporting.

Ensure adherence to internal controls and related procedures, including expense reports.

Prepare reports related to receivables and support collection efforts.

Perform ad-hoc financial analyses as requested by Owner/VP.

Review weekly accounts payable entries in QuickBooks and approve bills for payment routing.

Prepare weekly AP approval reports and cash flow analyses for CFO and Owner/VP.

Monitor bank balances, deposits, and spending to support liquidity management.

Lead annual operating budget preparation and provide department heads with budget vs. actual reporting.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or finance preferred. Three to five years of accounting experience.

Strong demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP.

Intermediate knowledge of accounting systems in general.

Advanced Excel skills.

Demonstrated ability to analyze and communicate financial data and tell the "story behind the numbers."

Demonstrated experience with systems automation initiatives and creating efficiencies preferred.

What We Offer:

We anticipate hiring for this position in the range of $75,000 - $90,000.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $43.27/hr.

Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
