What You Will Do
Join us in solving problems that support the security of our nation and the world! Detonator Production (DP) is seeking a highly customer service oriented and collaboratively focused Production Control Specialist to join their Infrastructure and Planning Office (IPO). This vital team member will be an integral part of providing Access Control Office support to Technical Area 22 High Explosive (HE) Area and programmatic facility operations. The production control specialist will report to the DP IPO Access Control Team Leader.
Operations Support Specialist 1
The selected candidate will work as an Access Control officer and be responsible for administering access to personnel, personnel accountability, maintaining HE activity knowledge, coordinating access with programmatic managers and HE point of contacts, and providing appropriate coverage for after-hours operations. The selected candidate will relay hazards and controls, facilitate emergency response, maintain HE area and programmatic badge readers, provide site access metrics, assist in procedure updates and development, and participation in projects and assessments. Additionally, the selected candidate will be familiar with the overall facility and Detonator Production Enterprise programmatic manufacturing and inspection operations within TA-22.
The successful candidate will:
Maintain required safety and security training, assure safety and security compliance, and make safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop/pause work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security. Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees.
Qualify as an access control officer with a demonstrated ability to perform access control requirements without supervision based on proficiency either by time on the job or past experiences.
Perform routine facility or area walk-downs, procedure reviews, inspections and/or evaluations to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facility related to safeguards and physical security of the HE area boundaries and entry/exit points.

We are looking for someone with proven competence in providing access control support and office management in a complex office environment by ensuring office coverage and coordination, reviewing and prioritizing incoming information, and making decisions regarding appropriate triage. They will also demonstrate experience by following detailed procedures, documenting actions and logs of activities.

Positive working relationships and the demonstrated ability to network effectively with other access control officers and key contacts outside their own area of expertise, both internal and external to the organization, are key to success in this position. Operations Support
Experience with basic operations support functions or processes such as: issues management, training, document control and records management, lessons learned, procurement, assessments, and metrics. They will also have basic knowledge of the facility operations and functions such as operations, maintenance, facility rounds and surveillances, engineering, safety basis, environmental health and safety, quality assurance, training program, abnormal event response, and contractor assurance.
Communication
Excellent communication and customer service skills both verbal and written, demonstrating the ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel. Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written skills are required.
Clearance Ability
Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance, which generally requires US citizenship.
Education/Experience for Operations Support Specialsit 1 : Position requires an Associates Degree in a relevant field and two years of relevant experience or , an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Conduct of Operations- Knowledge of Conduct of Operations in accordance with Department of Energy (DOE) Order 422.1, Conduct of Operations.
Access Control
Experience in providing messages with proper etiquette using communications systems such as paging systems and/or radios.
Knowledge and experience with Access Control processes include badge reader access, facility specific entry training, coordinating with facility and program personnel (HE Point of Contact, Operations Specialist, Building Manager, and program specific contacts), and coordinating with operations on the plan of the day / plan of the week.
Classified Environment & Clearance- Experience working in a classified environment with an active Q clearance.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 6:30 AM-3:00 PM
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances.
