DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Located in north Seattle, the Heart Institute at UW Medical Center - Northwest provides a wide range of cardiac services, including early prevention, risk assessment and acute and chronic disease management.
Our services include general cardiology, cardiac diagnostic imaging tests and procedures, arrhythmia management and electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, and advanced heart failure management. We emphasize imaging quality by ensuring our dedicated team of sonographers have time to perform a comprehensive examination - including the use of advanced techniques - on every patient.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct appropriate patient chart preparation utilizing the EHR to perform and analyze comprehensive complex diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures on adults and adolescents including, but not limited to:
Transthoracic Echo (TTE) (with M-mode, pulsed-wave, continuous-wave, and color Doppler).
Stress Echocardiograms
Assist physicians with special procedures such as Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEEs) and Pericardiocenteses; prepare TEE probe for high-level disinfection
Assist physicians with special procedures such as Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEEs) and Pericardiocenteses; prepare TEE probe for high-level disinfection
Employ safe and appropriate methods for patient transfer and positioning; observe and monitor patient's condition during examination
Regularly participates in the sonographer on-call rotation at the UWMC - NW Campus Main Hospital
Employ safe and appropriate methods for patient transfer and positioning; observe and monitor patient's condition during examination
Prepare a preliminary report that includes anatomical and physiological data and diagnostic observations; assign preliminary report to appropriate reading cardiologist.
Continually evaluate patient flow and work assignments, make necessary adjustments, and prioritize work accordingly
Perform other duties such as answering phones, exam room setup and turnover, helping lead sonographer with inventory, stocking linen, and other duties
REQUIREMENTS
Current Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification through American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
OR
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
OR
Registry eligible; registry must be obtained within 6 months of hire
OR
Equivalent education/experience

$47.08 hourly

$73.69 hourly
