Overview

This Financial Specialist III position is within the Vermont Department of Health Business Office.

The Financial Services Team is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused candidate to handle employee expense reimbursements and payroll processing. This role involves reviewing and processing expense reimbursements, conducting payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance, and applying administrative, payroll, and expense reimbursement policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills to work effectively with program staff, vendors, and other stakeholders both by phone and in writing, as well as the ability to analyze information and make sound decisions in line with established policies. Responsibilities also include providing guidance on travel, payroll, and reimbursement processes, and assisting with travel arrangements. The successful candidate will be someone who can work effectively as part of a team; with the initiative and judgment to handle most assignments with only general supervision.

To effectively perform the duties of this position, the following skills and competencies are required:\ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.\ Exceptional customer service, judgment, and problem-solving abilities.\ High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.\ Ability to review, interpret, and apply policies and procedures.\ Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.\ Willingness to assist staff with complex travel and payroll procedures\ \ \ This is a permanent full-time position, with the opportunity for upward advancement based on demonstrated and sustained performance.
