Overview

Job Summary:

Provides support to the Office of General Counsel in the following areas: preparation, review, and processing of legal documents and management of special projects.

Job Duties:

Conducts legal research using industry standard on-line databases, in-house law library, and other resources, as requested, including monitoring of litigation and regulatory and agency action, and prepares recommendations, analyses, and summaries of same.

Organize, review, and maintain the Legal Department's contracts, legal documents, record systems (e.g., Repstor) and records, prepare, drafts, and reviews contracts and other legal documents, research and analyze legal issues and recommend next steps; monitor and summarize legislation, litigation, and requisite actions, including, but not limited to, prepare and file required documents for the Secretary of State and local governmental agencies.

Prepares, drafts, and reviews contracts and other legal documents, directly interacting with representatives of various business units in preparation and update of same.

Responsible for special projects (e.g., subpoena response, debt collection oversight, investigations, Legal Tracker, assessment and formulation of employment investigations, evaluation and assessment of compliance issues for physician contracts; insurance and claims management).

Prepares and files required documents for federal, state, and local governmental or regulatory agencies.

Coordinates, prepares, dashboard and presentations for Executives, Senior Executives, and other internal stakeholders.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education / Licensure / Certification:

Prefer prior paralegal experience or 5+ years of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney.

At least one of the following: a) A paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program, b) A certificate from a paralegal program, or a degree from, an accredited secondary institution which requires at least 31 semester units in law-related courses, or c) currently pursuing one of the above.

Pay Scale Information

$68,640.00-$104,832.00

Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
